“No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.”
2 Timothy 2:4-5

I love meditating on the above verse from 2 Timothy 2 whenever I decide to go out for a run! I often think about this verse right alongside our Spring100 Theme verse where we are told to β€œlay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily ensnares us”! To be entangled or ensnared means to be trapped or caught up in something that will hinder movement. The word WEIGHT mentioned in Hebrews 12:1 means β€œa burden or something so heavy and cumbersome that it impedes a runner from running his race as he should.” So just like you wouldn’t run a marathon with a backpack full of cumbersome bricks or ropes tied around your legs that will trip you up, you don’t want run the spiritual race with spiritual bricks that will weigh you down and keep you from running to your fullest. We are commanded to lay aside or THROW OFF these weights and sin and in God’s strenth +by His grace, we can do just that. πŸ™ŒπŸ» “Β I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13. With these verses on my mind this week, how about a fun CHALLANGE? πŸ˜ƒ Here is the challenge for week 10 of Spring100:

CHALLENGE- This week make it your goal to walk a mile with a little extra weight just to get the feel of what that extra spiritual weight feels like and what a relief it is to finally take it off and walk unencumbered. πŸ’πŸΌβ€β™€οΈWhether it be hand weights, extra-large canned veggies, a weighted back-pack, sibling riding piggyback, or maybe just your baby on your front-pack! Get creative and snap a picture of how you did the weight challenge and send it in for next week’s post letting us know how it went for you!

I am looking forward to seeing how creative you all get. Soooooo, are you ready to tackle week 10 of the Spring100? LET’S DO IT!!!!! πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ’―

Please note: this is only a suggested challenge and is not required. Please do not attempt this challenge if you are dealing with any health issues or do not feel physically qualified to try. Join at your own discretion! Thank you.

QUESTION: With just about 1 month left in this challenge, what is the most helpful tip you can give a Spring100er who is behind on their miles?? Please comment below and let us know!

For anyone who is behind on your miles, I would encourage you to make walking part of your daily schedule. If you make it mandatory, if at all possible, you will walk more. Another idea is to make walking more fun and enjoyable. I like to read books while walking, and that makes it easier to help pass the time better. You can also find people to race against such as siblings or friends for who can finish their 100 miles first so it will be more motivating. I hope that these tips help!

I have found that if I wake up early and go for a walk, I can get more miles in. Then if I can get another one later that’s even better.

Wonderful advice! It’s the same for me. I have to get my miles in first thing or else chances are pretty good I won’t later on in the day! 🫣🧑

Hey everyone! Lovely weather in this part of Canada. Enjoying the change after a winter everybody thought would never end. (: I would encourage those who are behind in their miles to walk whenever they have 10+ minutes to spare. It’s amazing how little strolls add up! I’ve done that several times and am encouraged and surprised when I gain more miles than if I had done only one big walk in my day. And again, don’t let the challenge get in the way of the fun, fellowship, and faith building part of Spring 100!

I just took my baby sister on a piggyback ride on our walk this morning – before even reading this post. Challenge accomplished!! For those of you who are behind, just try to walk every day you can – as much as you can. Don’t ever be like, “should i walk? I don’t feel like it, i’m so far behind already.” No! Just do it. The miles add up quicker than you’d think. Grab a friend and press on!

Don’t procrastinate! πŸ™‚ I tend to do that a lot, and would never get to 100 miles if I procrastinated with walking. Just go outside and do it! You’ll probably be glad you did afterward. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Praise the Lord! I am over 50%. As an answer to this weeks question I think what’s best to getting caught up is walking as many miles as you can, and you should get caught up.

I would encourage you to grab a buddy and challenge each other and push each other to finish! πŸ₯³ Also as someone else already mentioned, to try and make walking a routine part of your day.πŸ˜€ I try to walk a mile each evening, and sometimes I’m not able to, but knowing that it’s in my schedule helps me to remember to do it. With my goal this year, I have to walk 4.50 miles every day for the rest of the challenge if I’m going to make it to my goal and I’m cheering all you others who have a lot left to walk as well! πŸ˜‰ You can do this!πŸ₯° just run in the strength of our God! 😊 He will give you the strength to complete what he has planned for you!πŸ˜ƒ

I’ve been thinking about this verse this week when seeing all the tons of dandelions on my walks…Seeing them all when they first come up, then seeing them get fluffy and shed their seeds (like putting off the old man) and then being carried away and made to grow as a whole new dandelion(kind of like putting on the new man). I just thought it was an interesting picture.πŸ˜€
“if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.” Ephesians 4:20–22

Happy walking this week and have fun with the weight challenge!πŸ˜€ This is one of my favorite weeks of SPRING100!!πŸ₯³πŸ₯°πŸ˜‰ I love the weight challenge!πŸ˜‚

Hello! It was so fun to see the pictures of Pella, Iowa because we lived there for four years, and loved Tulip Time Festival!

I’ve already crossed the 100 miles finish line, but my personal goal is over 200, so I’m just over halfway there! My tips for those struggling to walk daily are many!

Look up local parks and state parks in your area, and plan to explore these places. I find I am much more motivated to walk longer distances when I am on an excursion somewhere new and have a fun destination at the end of the trail, like a waterfall or covered bridge!

Plan a personal scavenger hunt along your walk, like trying to identify as many wildflowers or trees as possible, discovering insects, birdwatching, or look for cloud types in the sky,
If you are walking with younger children, this helps them focus on the hunt rather than the miles. Make sure you bring along your camera to photograph your finds.

Walk with friends! It is always encouraging to have fellowship and godly conversation along the way. When I’m unable to walk with family or friends, I use the time to converse with my Heavenly Father.

My absolute favorite time of day to walk is right before and after sunset. God paints an amazing picture in the sky, unique to each day, and it is usually cooler at this time.

Night walks are also fun when you have a safe area to walk with other people. We enjoy looking at the constellations, moon phases, and sometimes see some shooting stars.

All of that to say, mix it up a bit and do something different each day to make walking a joy rather than something to check of your list!
