Week 5 || 100MileMonday

Spring100 Featured Photographer: Joanna Klassen

Well, what an exciting moment to make it through week 5!!😄 We are well over 1/3rd of the way through this 92-day challenge. The weather is officially warming up for everyone, and the fresh spring air is so invigorating, isn’t it?! ☺️🍃 As I went out for my walk, I was thinking about the endurance that will be needed for each of us to finish this challenge. My mind instantly went to that one line from Hebrews 12 where it says, “who for the joy that was set before HIM endured…”. Jesus Christ, our triumphant Forerunner, fixed His eyes on the JOY set before Him, and He endured. It was a good reminder for me that JOY fuels endurance! For the Spring100 Challenge, we have the joy of crossing the virtual finish line and celebrating with friends and family across the World. In the spiritual race of life, we have the joy of what we have been given here on earth and that which we are promised for all eternity. I pray you’re given eyes to see the JOYS set before you as you set out to conquer week 6 of the 2025 Spring100 challenge!!👏🏼🙋🏼‍♀️💯

Spring100 Weekly Meditation
JOY Fuels Endurance

Nehemiah 8:10 || Week 5

1. “The joy of the Lord is your strength” (Nehemiah 8:10).

Is it not good to belong to a God that makes gladness the pathway to power? Satan is a very gloomy god. But Jesus said, “Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for, behold, your reward is great in heaven” (Luke 6:23). Satan cannot abide the songs of the saints. (Knowing this he fabricates “musical” substitutes which are not the heart-songs of happy people, but the grunts and gasps and screams of people without peace.) I have seen Satan driven out with the songs of hope-filled Christians. And I know that in my own life finding the pace to finish the race means recovering the joy of the Lord again and again. Joy is a great power.

2. “We rejoice in hope of the glory of God” (Romans 5:2).

Some joy comes from what we have now—forgiveness of sin, fellowship with God, purposeful lives, worship, fellowship, sunrise, sunset, precious friends and family. But the simple and painful fact is “our outer nature is wasting away” (2 Corinthians 4:16); we are “afflicted in every way… perplexed… persecuted… struck down” (2 Corinthians 4:8-9); and we who have the Spirit “groan inwardly as we wait for adoption, the redemption of our bodies” (Romans 8:23). Therefore if we’re going to have an unwavering joy in this life, it will have to be “in hope.” “For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience”—and with joy (Romans 8:24f). Therefore “Rejoice in hope!” (Romans 12:12).

3. “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be crying any more, for the former things have passed away…The city has no need of sun or moon to shine upon it, for the glory of God is its light, and its lamp is the Lamb.” (Revelation 21:4,23).

This is our hope. The glory of God will one day stand forth in a new creation and wipe away all evil and all pain and all sorrow and all fear and all guilt. All obedience and faithfulness will be vindicated and rewarded. All self-denial and suffering in faith will be recompensed 100-fold. “He who did not spare his only Son, but gave him up for us all, will freely give us all things with him” (Romans 8:32) All that God owns will be the inheritance of his children for their everlasting enjoyment.

4. “I do not cease [to pray] for the eyes of your hearts to be enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of your calling and what is the wealth of the glory of God’s inheritance in the saints” (Ephesians 1:16-18).

The great challenge for us now is to know the glory of our hope. To see it with the eyes of the heart and not just think about it with the mind. This is the great spiritual battle. And this is fought with the television off, on our knees in the Word. God forbid that “seeing we would not see and hearing we would not hear.” Let us pray with all our heart that the God who said, “Let there be light,” will shine in our heart “to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ” (2 Corinthians 4:6).

Summary

Pray for eyes > behold the glory of God > hope in that glory > rejoice in hope > be strong in joy.” John Piper

    My praise from last week…I was doing some last minute clothes shopping for a trip. I was needing to update some staples in my closet, but wasn’t finding anything in any of the stores (thrift stores or department stores), and it was too late to order online. I had one last thrift store to check, and before going in, I prayed and asked God to let me find just one item on my list. Not only did I find that one item, but I also found three others, plus a nice purse that was a style I had been on the lookout for…and all these items for just $1 a piece!!! 😃 It made me smile think of God’s goodness, and of the verse that says He is “able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.” (Eph. 3:20) 🙂

    I’m very, very grateful that a dear friend and sister in the Lord got to come home on Friday of last week after nearly succumbing to double pneumonia. She spent several days in the hospital, and suffers from COPD, so it was God’s grace and wonderful mercy that restored her to my church family. We also had a youth in my church profess that Jesus has saved him. In the couple of weeks prior, we had 4 other professions of faith! Salvation is such a joy and rejoicing of the heart!! It is truly streams in the desert! And where there is joy, there is also a spiritual battle that rages as Satan comes to oppose the Spirit and cause heartache and trouble in an effort to steal away the joy and praise. He is foiled when we remember that God is on the throne, high and lifted up in every way, forever and ever–and we praise Him in the midst of the storms!!!!

    I’m praising the Lord for sparing my brother’s life last week! He was hit on his driver’s side by a drunk driver going 70 miles an hour and walked away with only a broken arm. He had surgery to repair it with a titanium plate and four screws, but is recovering well. Praise God for His protection and mercy ❤️

    As I sat to think about what I was thankful for, nothing “extraordinary” came to mind for the week. It was the ” little ” things: another breath, another day with my family, protection while traveling, the sun rising once again, springtime, etc. I am reminded of God’s faithfulness. He promised that while the earth remained there would be the seasons and day and night ( Gen. 8:22). He’s been faithful! He’s been a God that KEEPS his covenant. In a world of broken promises, that gives me HOPE. When he says he will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness ( 1 John 1:9), He means it. What he says, He WILL do. His faithfulness to his covenant brings me hope and joy. I praise HIM for that!
