WAY TO GO!!! πŸ’―πŸ₯³

Way to go!! You’ve just made it through week 4 of the 2025 Spring100. πŸ‘πŸΌ GOOD JOB!πŸ’― I was thinking today about how we all have the end goal of hitting the 100 miles, and with endurance and determination, we have set our eyes on crossing the “finish line.” What a fun reward that will be! It is very much the same in our Christian life! We set our eyes on Christ our Exceedingly great Reward(Gen 15:1) eternity spent with Him. This is our hope! Last week, I was blessed by the reminder that the end product of suffering and endurance is HOPE. Hope in our Risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! because of Him, we can rejoice in hope. Hope here on earth and for all eternity! I pray you all are filled with strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow as you set out to accomplish week 5 of the 2025 Spring100!πŸ™‹πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Spring100 Weekly Meditation
Hope in Christ

Romans 12:12 || Week 4

“rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer”
Romans 12:12

Our hope in Christ for the future is the mainspring and the mainstay of our joy down here today. Our hearts will be stirred by thinking often of heaven, for all that we can desire is promised there.

Here we are tired and weary, but over there is the land of rest where the sweat of toil will no longer soak our shirts, and fatigue will be banished forever. To those who are weary and worn, the word rest is full of heaven. We are always in the field of battle; we are so tempted and so molested by foes that we have little or no peace; but in heaven we will enjoy the victory, when the banner shall be unfurled in triumph, and the sword will be sheathed, and we will hear our Captain say, β€œWell done, good and faithful servant.”1

We have suffered bereavement after bereavement, but we are going to the land of the immortal where graves do not exist. Here sin is a constant grief to us, but there we will be perfectly holy, for there will be nothing in heaven to defile it. There are no needs in the furrows of celestial fields. It is a source of deep joy to realize that the wilderness journey of our earthly pilgrimage will end and we will inherit heaven.

But let us make sure that we are not just dreaming about the future and thus forgetting the present. Let all thoughts of the future serve to make us useful in the present. Through the Spirit of God the hope of heaven is the most powerful force for producing virtue; it is a fountain of joyful endeavor; it is the cornerstone of cheerful holiness. Those who have this hope in them go about their work with vigor, for the joy of the Lord is their strength. They fight hard against temptation, for the hope of the next world repels the fiery darts of the adversary. They can work without immediate reward, for they anticipate a reward in the world to come.- C.H. Spurgeon

Endurance is not only the ability to bear a hard thing, but to turn it into glory.- John Calvin

“Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
2 Peter 1:2-8

I grab miles when I can after work, with my faithful companion Ginger (she’s a dog) She gets excited when I start to get ready to leave for a two mile walk to the library and back. My work schedule changed this year, so finding the time to go walk has been a bit of a struggle. I’m about a week behind where I should be, but by the grace of God, I’ll keep at it until I cross the finish line.

I’m doing similar! Except I’m not always getting in the whole 1.1 miles every day…so I do a 2 mile walk on Sundays and 1.5 mile walks some weekdays when I can to make up for the days I barely walk or don’t at all. :/

I’m doing similar with doubling up on weekends, except I’m definitely not keeping up with the 1.1 miles per day during the week. :/ Sundays I walk 2 miles, and some days I’m able to get in 1.5 or 1.6 miles, but often I’m getting less than a mile per day, so the longer walk days are just helping to cover the days when I don’t have time for the miles I need.

I do the 1.1 miles a day, but I sometimes grab some extra when family members go on walks and ask if I want to come along. 😊 The extra miles are nice for days or weekends when I have a bunch going on and don’t have the time (or energy πŸ€ͺ) to walk.

I have just been grabbing miles whenever I can … but typically my siblings and I walk the same routes, and take about 1 to 2 miles at a time. So far my average has been 2.5 miles a day! 😊 Everyone is having a lot of fun with this challenge, and so far 3 of my siblings have finished their 100 miles! I’m just over halfway there. πŸ˜…

I have a varied work schedule, so walking doesn’t always fit in my daily routine. I have a 6000 steps daily (walking or running in exercise) goal, but I also aim for milestones, like the next 5 or 10 mile mark. Today, the goal was to hit the 60 mile mark.
I’ve been trying to do to at least 2 four mile walk/runs per week and fill in with shorter walks on the days that are full of work or church responsibilities.
I’d like to advocate for a Winter Walk as well!πŸ˜€

I don’t have a set routine for walking because my days are so varied, but I do have a personal goal of at least 1 mile daily. My current record is 26 days walked in a row, with an average of 1.5 miles a day, sometimes broken into 1/2-mile segments because of a vascular health issue. I am noticing a definite change for the better! It is becoming easier to walk and I’m feeling stronger. Thanking the Lord for the Spring100 and especially His mercies that endure forever!

We get most of our miles walking around our property for chores (we have 90 acres and milk 3 cows twice a day and do rotational grazing for a herd of beef cows), checking on animals (it’s easy to spend a lot of time giving heifers scratches πŸ™‚ ), and puttering in the beautiful spring weather we have now. We had some days that were harder to get outside because the weather was so nasty, but with animals there is no “staying inside”, so we are very thankful for lots of warm clothes to wear on those days ;). Hooray for warm weather!
