5 Tips To Start the Spring100:

  1. GO IN THE STRENGTH OF THE LORD! Remember, we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength. “I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.” Ps 71:16
  2. Incorporate Scripture in your daily walks and the entirety of Spring100! Make this challenge more than just physical exercise, make it a season of spiritual refreshment and edification. The Spring100 Reading Plan is a great way to do this! “For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.” 1 Timothy 4:8
  3. Keep track of your miles!! Whether it’s a special notebook dedicated to Spring100 or in your journal or the Spring100 calendar, PLEASE keep a personal log of your miles. YES, you will be submitting your miles to me weekly but having your own copy of miles walked will be a helpful way to “compare notes” if by chance I find you’re short of the required 100-mile goal by the end of Spring100!
  4. Wear good shoes when walking! 😉
  5. Interact right here on the SP100 BLOG through comments + photos! This is a fun online community when we all join together, seeking to encourage each other as we move toward the 100-mile goal!
  6. BONUS!! 😅 Have fun!!🙌🏻🎉💯

Featured Spring100 Photographer: Nathaniel Hendry

“I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.”
Psalm 16:8

First thing first! Y’all, we have 19 full walking days left in this 2020 Spring100 challenge. 19 days to get your miles accomplished! 19 days to accomplish what you may think is impossible because “For with God nothing will be impossible.” Luke 1:37!!! So, you are saying to yourself “I have tooo many miles left to walk… I just can’t do it!!” May I offer you a little bit of finish-line encouragement???‍♀️ “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”Phil 4:13!! YES, we can. Through Christ! Perhaps you have 50 miles left?! 2.7 miles a day and you will get it done! If you haven’t even done a single mile yet you only need to do 5.2 miles a day to cross the finish line! That may seem like a huge chunk to do at once but it can easily be split up. 2.6 miles in the morning and 2.6 miles at night will get you 100 miles if you start walking today. YOU CAN DO IT!!!! Y’all, press toward the goal, find your strength in the Lord, and don’t give up. I am praying every one of you makes it to the finish line!! ????

Featured Spring100 Photographer Micah L.

“The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.”
Psalm 28:7

How was week 9 of the Spring100 for you all??? If my calculations are correct, we have only 33 days left in this challenge(not counting today?)! The end is in sight and so many are there waiting to see us cross the finish line! ? As I go through Hebrews 12 each week, I am reminded of verse 1 in where it says “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses”. These witnesses are men and women who have finished the race, who have run with endurance, and left a lasting testimony! These witnesses are not those who have witnessed their own faithfulness in running BUT God’s faithfulness working through them. Whether it be Corrie Ten Boom, Eric Liddell, the Apostle Paul, or King David- their testimony points us to God’s faithfulness in their lives and HIS strength made perfect in weakness[2 Cor 12:8-10]! I love these verses from Hebrews 11 where it says, “And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions. Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong….”(Heb 11:32-34) As we look to these men and women, we are pointed to the grace and strength of our Lord and Savior. 🙂 By His grace they fought the good fight, they conquered, they finished the race, and they kept the faith[2 Timothy 4:7-8]!! So, are you ready to conquer week 10 of the Spring100 and the race of life? Let’s press forward in the strength & grace of the Lord! ??

Week 9 QUESTIONS!! Yep, there are 2 today! ? 1.) What is the biggest challenge you face in accomplishing your daily goals? 2.) Has the Lord put any truths from His word on your heart during your walks? Comment below answering one or both questions.  Can’t wait to hear your answers!!

“Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.”
Proverbs 4:26-27

We have successfully completed week 8 of the Spring100 by God’s grace and entered into week 9!! ? Keep on going strong y’all! ?? If you have finished your 100 miles, set bigger goals and see how many miles you can accomplish by God’s grace at the end of this challenge!! “Our Mother’s Day walk with our wonderful mom! I know on Mother’s Day, we tend to think of our moms, but I wanted to include my grandmother, my mom’s mom who lives in Alabama. I know my grandmother and my mom make mistakes( they wouldn’t be human if they didn’t), but I want to put their qualities together and be the best I can be for God I’m so grateful that God allowed them to be my mentors and to teach me how God wants me to be for Him.? Spring100 MILE LOG

Featured Photo by Spring100er Rachel Lamb

“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures”
1 Corinthians 15:3-4

First, I must say Happy Resurrection Sunday everyone(a little late)!! We enjoyed a beautiful day of worship and celebration at my house and I hope each of you enjoyed the same. 40:31 was my “verse of the week” for the Spring100! “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” After some long work hours, I found myself intensely physically exhausted this week YET the Lord instantly put Isaiah 40:31 on my mind and heart! When I am empty, The Lord God fills me up. His strength is made perfect in my weakness and in my exhaustion He carries me through the tasks He puts before me. It made me think of the spiritual race we are running! This spiritual race can only be run with endurance when we find our strength in Christ. “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise Him.” [Ps 28:7]! My heart trusts in Him and I am helped… every single moment of ever day!!????? “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength”. To wait means 1.) to remain in a state in which you expect [Ps 62:5]or hope[Jer 17:7] and 2.) to serve[Ps 100:2], to attend as a servant. So, as we run the race set before us, where is our hope and who are we serving? Ultimately, who are we running for? 🙂 As we run for, Hope in, and serve the Lord, He will renew our strength. Moment by moment and day by day! We will “run and not grow weary”. That is a promise! ? May the Lord richly bless each of your with renewed strength for week 5Happy walking/running y’all!! ??‍♀️?‍♀️?‍♂️

“See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.”
Ephesians 5:15-17

As we enter week 4 of the Spring100 I always like to remind fellow Spring100ers to redeem your walks! ? It is very easy to let that mile pass without much thought, isn’t it?! We pass the mile sliding through our favorite social feed on our phone or thinking about something completely random. We are told in 1 Timothy 4:8, “For bodily exercise profiteth little: but GODLINESS is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.” Life that is now and that which is to come…. WOW! Here at the Spring100, I believe a mile is not just a mile but its time that can be redeemed! A mile used to meditate on scripture, pray, or encourage others is a mile well spent. For me, my morning mile walk is a great time to pray. It is usually the only time of day where I can be guaranteed quiet concentrated time! If I’m not taking that time to pray, I have the audio Bible downloaded on my phone that I will listen to or I will turn on my BBN radio app! Families have mentioned these walks are a great time for family fellowship, catching up after a busy day, or brushing up on their Scripture memorization together. How wonderful is that?!?? And even a mile just spent soaking up God’s creation and resting-resetting our minds to mentally prepare for the tasks that lay ahead is a mile well-walked?! So, a mile isn’t just a mile…. The time spent enjoying physical exercise can be so much more. Put your Smart Phone away??, look up, redeem the time, and make each mile count both here on earth and for all eternity! Make an intentional effort to incorporate God’s Word, encourage others, and soak up God’s glorious creation when walking your miles this Spring100. All right, are you ready to conquer this new week of walking/running???‍♀️?‍♂️ Enjoy walking week 4!??‍♀️

Week 3 QUESTION!! How do you spend the time during your Spring100 Walks?? Enjoying time catching up with family/friends? Scripture memorization? listening to audio? Enjoying the beautiful views of God’s creation? Just trying to focus on not tripping?? OR…? Comment below and let us know!↓

Spring100 MILE LOG

…………………………………

…………………………………

“Justice and judgment are the habitation of Thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before Thy face. Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O Lord, in the light of Thy countenance. In Thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in Thy righteousness shall they be exalted. For Thou art the glory of their strength: and in Thy favour our horn shall be exalted.”
Psalm 89:14-17

So, how has your Spring100 walking been going??? Lots of diverse Spring weather from the pictures we received. Rain, snow, and sunshine fill the photos below.?☀️☃️ Views from all around the world are included in this week’s post. I LOVE IT! As we walk our Spring100 miles each week, it is my hope that this challenge will be a reminder of the spiritual race we are set on. We are called to run this spiritual race set before with endurance in Hebrews 12 but this is only possible as we steadfastly set our eyes on Jesus Christ, the Author and Finisher of our faith. “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith”(Heb 12:2)! I love the verses from Psalm 89 that a sweet friend and fellow Spring100er sent my way yesterday, “Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O Lord, in the light of Thy countenance.” As children of the Lord God, our path is illuminated by the light of His countenance!! How amazing is that?! This reminds me of a Psalm I like to pray often during my morning walks. Psalm 43:3 says, “Oh, send out Your light and Your truth! Let them lead me…” As we enter week 3 of the Spring100, may we steadfastly set our gaze on the Lord Jesus Christ as we walk in the light of His countenance! May the Lord enable us to do so. ? Happy walking running y’all! ??‍♀️

Spring100 MILE LOG

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us”
Hebrews 12:1

There are so many brothers and sisters in Christ that have gone before me whose lives encourage me in my daily spiritual race! Their testimonies of God’s provision and faithfulness spur me to press forward with endurance. I think of Stephen in Acts 7 or the Apostle Paul or Corrie Ten Boom or well you get the point ?… I guess that would be the “great cloud of witnesses” referred to in Hebrews 12:1!? Some have already made it to the finish line of life and others are still running with their eyes steadfastly fixed on the prize before them! This brings me to what I want to share with you all for today’s Spring100 post. Sheri introduced me to Gita, our oldest Spring100 participant at 98 years old, who has not only already finished her 100 miles for Spring100 but is running with endurance her spiritual race and living a life that inspires so many! Her testimony of God’s faithfulness throughout her entire life is nearly overwhelming! When Sheri shared Gita’s life story with me, I knew you all would be as blessed as I was by it. So, without further ado, I would love to introduce you all to Gita, a fellow Spring100 walker, encourager, inspiration, and sister in Christ! ?

Gita is almost 98 years old. When she was a young woman, Russian soldiers invaded her country of Estonia. After she endured and survived many weeks of constant bombing of Tallinn, Estonia’s capital where she lived, Gita and what was left of her family fled the country the evening before Russia invaded. They sailing away on a hospital ship called the Moero. But the next morning, out in the Baltic Sea, the Moero was torpedoed by Russian planes, and sank in about 6 minutes, taking nearly 4,000 people onboard down with it, including her first husband. They had been married only one year. Gita and her younger brother, Erich, managed to jump from the sinking ship into separate large life preservers. Gita’s was filled with other people, but her brother’s had only one other man in it. Erich had dreamed the night before that the ship would be sunk and he would die!

Gita life preserver floated away from the 3 boats that came to rescue survivors. After floating in the freezing water for 4 hours, they were picked up by a German U-boat (submarine) and taken to what was then called Gdansk, Poland. Her brother never showed up at the displaced person’s camp, and she learned from witnesses on another rescue ship that the “young man in a life ring with only two men” had fallen from the knotted rescue line they threw to him, and he had been sucked into the ship’s propeller. Gita was devastated. He was her final family member, except for her grandmother who was still in Estonia. She never saw her grandmother again, either.

Gita wandered from one country to the next with no home, no family, no nation; but God always sustained her with several miracles, pulling her from certain death time after time. Finally, she ended up behind the American lines and when WW2 ended, she met an officer that would become her husband and bring her to America! She had 6 children, got saved, and was part of a group of 5 people that started my church back in 1970. She loves the Lord with all her heart, and still serves Him, baking cookies and cakes as gifts for many people, old and young alike. AND she gardens with the flowers she loves, and walks 3 miles a day!

Thank you, Sheri, for taking time to send in Gita’s story! What a blessing. ?? We have some fabulous photos below and this week’s photo theme seems to be “Spring100 meetups”!? Y’all, keep up the fabulous job and enjoy week 7 of your Spring100 walking/running! ?????

Spring100 MILE LOG

…………………………………

“For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the Lord our God for ever and ever.”
Micah 4:5

…………………………………

A fellow Spring100er, Hannah G. from VA, brought Micah 4:5 to my attention this weekend and really encouraged my heart!? How perfect is it for the Spring100?! I love how Micah 4:5 reminds us that we follow not after the pattern of the world as they follow after their idols and false gods but we are set-apart and shining lights in a dark world as we walk in the name of the Lord God. In His name alone is there found salvation(Acts 4:12) and in His strength alone(Hab 3:19) will we make it to the finish line of our spiritual race triumphant(2 Corinthians 2:14)! Psalm 20:5 says “… in the name of our God we will set up our banners…”! Will you walk/run the Spring100 and run your spiritual race in the name of the Lord? Will you make His name known and conquer for His glory and by His strength? The Psalmist says in Psalm 34:1, ” I will bless the LORD at all times: His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” Let’s move forward this Spring100 giving the Lord ALL THE GLORY for every mile accomplished and let’s walk the Spring100 in the name of the Lord! “That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.” (1 Cor 1:31)! Y’all, enjoy week 5!! ???‍♀️?

Over the years I have tried to make a point of not letting the weather (within safety and wisdom?) hinder me from accomplishing my daily walk/run and I remind myself that if it won’t kill me, it will make me stronger! ? Then I conquer in the stretngth of the Lord! Reminds me of our spiritual race, we will face hurdles that seem unsurpassable, trials, and challenges that will seem to give us an excuse to not run with endurance BUT remember, we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength. He provides the grace to run with endurance as we set our eyes steadfastly on Him and seek His strength… one step at a time!??? Keep up the energy and enthusiasm y‘all! You are doing WONDERFULLY!

“For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.”
Psalm 18:29
