“The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise Him.”
Psalm 28:7

How was week 9 of the Spring100 for you all??? If my calculations are correct, we have only 33 days left in this challenge! The end is in sight and so many are there waiting to see us cross the finish line! As I go through Hebrews 12 each week, I am reminded of verse 1 where it says “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses”. These witnesses are men and women who have finished the race, who have run with endurance, and left a lasting testimony! These witnesses are not those who have witnessed their own faithfulness or strength in running BUT God’s faithfulness and strength working through them. 1 Corinthians 1:27 puts it so beautifully, “…God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty”. Whether it be Corrie Ten Boom, Eric Liddell, the Apostle Paul, Daniel, King David, Abraham, or Abel- their testimony points us to God’s faithfulness in their lives and HIS strength made perfect in weakness[2 Cor 12:8-10]! I love these verses from Hebrews 11 where it says, “And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions. Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong….”(Heb 11:32-34) As we look to these men and women, we are pointed to the grace and strength of our Lord and Savior. 🙂 By His grace, they fought the good fight, they conquered, they finished the race, and they kept the faith[2 Timothy 4:7-8]!! So, are you ready to conquer week 10 of the Spring100 and the race of life? “I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.” Ps 71:16!! Let’s press forward in the strength & grace of the Lord!

Week 9 QUESTIONS:

1.) If you could walk a mile with any past Christian in history, who would it be and why?? Don’t leave without answering below. Can’t wait to see who y’all choose!!

2.) If you are following along with the Spring100 Reading Plan, we’ve made our way through Ephesians and most of Philippians! I would love to hear which chapter and verses encouraged your heart this week!!

ARE YOU BEHIND?? You still have time to catch up! Even if you haven’t started walking your first Spring100 mile yet, you can still easily reach the 100 Mile goal by June 20th!! If you still have all 100 miles to walk, an easy 3.1 miles each day will get you to the finish line on time. Break your walks up into 2 different walks daily to make it a doable and easy challenge!

This Week’s Spring100 Scripture Reading Plan-MAY 17th through May 23rd:

Tuesday: 1 Thessalonians 1
Wednesday: 1 Thessalonians 2
•Thursday: 1 Thessalonians 3

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Hebrews 12:1-2

YAYYYYYY EVERYONE!!!!!! Keep up the great work!!!!! SOOOOO good to see so many people already completing their 100 miles!!!!! For those of you that haven’t finished yet and those that are behind, keep going!!!!!!! You can still finish!!!! Just keep pressing towards the finish line! I’m right here cheering y’all on 😉

For the questions, I’d have to say I would want to walk with Fanny Crosby! Her story is such an inspiration to me, and I think it would be quite lovely to walk with her!!!

For the Scripture passages that encouraged me the most this week, I would have to say……

“But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: that in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
    ” (Ephesians 2:4‭-‬10 )

    “Do all things without murmurings and disputings: that ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

    (Philippians 2:14‭-‬15)

Those two passages were the perfect reminders for me this week!!!

I hope you all have a fabulous week!!💖

I would love to take a walk with these three ladies…Amy Carmichael, Gladys Aylward and Lillian Trasher! These women fully trusted in the Lord and closely walked with Him every day. I love how they put their whole hearts into serving Him and caring for widows and orphans which He asked us to do in James 1:27. May the Lord bless each one of you and encourage your servant’s hearts. With love and prayers, Mrs. Pam Hagey

It would have been very amazing to have met her. I would also choose Joni Eareackson Tada. Her godly example has encouraged me over and over. She is a living testimony of surrender to the Lord’s sovereignty in her life. I am grateful for these two women!

Wow, so many of you crossed the finish line this week!!! Way to go everyone!

If I could walk with any Christian in history it would be the Apostle Paul… he was a man greatly used by God but he still had struggles/temptations like the rest of us, and his books are such an encouragement to me.😊

I really LOVED reading through Ephesians!! Chapter 2 was so encouraging…
“But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)”
The contrast of life and death here is really beautiful to see! In sin we were dead, but now God has made us alive and “we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” -Eph. 2:10

Amen! Thank you for sharing these beautiful verses and reminders, Sarah!!! Reminds me of Romans 8:32, “He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” So, so powerful!! I’m so thankful for the VICTORY in Jesus, and the reassurance of the hope we have through Him!!💕

That was my favorite portion of Ephesians too! Aren’t you thankful that The Lord God is rich in mercy?? As I read that portion of Ephesians I was reminded of these verses:

But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.- Titus 3:3-7

Keep up the beautiful work, Sarah!! And thank you for your continued encouragement. Means so much to me!!💕

    Great pictures everyone!!
    How was the Spring100 meetup?

    1. The person I would pick to walk with actually just died a few weeks ago-Edgar Harrell. He was the last living marine survivor of the USS Indianapolis. He wrote a book called “Out of the depths” that I highly recommend!!! His story is truly miraculous and I love that he places all the emphasis on the providence of God!
I heard him speak a few years ago, but was unfortunately not able to meet him.

    2. Philippians 2:4-11 is such a convicting passage on true humility and sacrificial love!

OH! Beautiful verses. Some of my all time favorites!! 💕
” Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”

Tychicus is called a “dear brother” of Paul’s and a “faithful servant” of the Lord’s (Ephesians 6:21). We should all strive to hold that title! Faithful brother/sister in Christ and faithful servant of the Lord!! Thank you for mentioning him, Kelsey!! 🧡 Great choice. 🙂

WOW! It seems lots of people are finishing their 100 miles!😃If I were to walk with a Christian person from the past it would have to be C. S. Lewis or Jack as he liked to be called. Lewis lived when Germany invaded country after country. It was also a time when people started doubting Christianity. Lewis was a straight forward simple man who changed the world through his lectures, books, and life. He lived an amazing life, humbly helping people to see that God is real. I especially love his books “The Chronicles of Narnia” which teaches about the Bible in a helpful perspective for kids. I would love to walk with him because I could still learn a lot from him! I would highly recommend his books and the audio drama Focus on The Family put out about his life and books.📕 Great to see everyone today! Hope everybody enjoys this week and what it brings!

Still pushing through with my miles. Hoping to finish up soon! I would say if I could walk with one Christian of the past, it would be Charles Spurgeon. His teaching has been such a blessing to my life, and I’m going through a book of his sermons right now. He had such a beautiful way of talking his congregation, calling them ”little children” just as the Apostle John did. He started ministry at only 16 years of age, and continued faithfully despite overwhelming health issues and opposition from the secular world and the weakening theologians of England’s churches. What a humble, devout man of God!

Would definitely have to be Eric Liddell or Corrie Ten Boom. The former because we share the same interest in running and the latter because I can relate to her quiet, pre-war life wherein she notes that even in those times the Lord was preparing her. It would just be really neat to fellowship with both of these ordinary people who did extraordinary things for God’s glory because HE is great and chose them to accomplish HIS purposes.

Eric Liddell is one person I have been thinking about a lot lately! More so his life after running and the testimony he left during his final days on earth. Japanese invaders placed him in a squalid prison camp and it was revealed after the war that Liddell had turned down an opportunity to leave the camp (as part of a prisoner exchange program), preferring instead to give his place to a pregnant woman. Even in bad health and poor living conditions, he was known as the one who encouraged and teaching others in the camp. A fellow internee wrote of Liddell: “He gave me two things. One was his worn out running shoes, but the best thing he gave me was his baton of forgiveness. He taught me to love my enemies, the Japanese, and to pray for them.”

That is truly God’s strength shining through weakness! “Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.”

But we also had some adventures with meeting a black snake and a big turtle!! 🙂 😉 I am so sad that we only have four weeks left!! :(:( But…I will admit, I can’t wait for the new t-shirt! My 2020 Spring100 shirt is well worn by now! 😉
Hm…if I could walk with anybody?? Maybe Paul, because I really love his books!
Thank you for sharing that verse from Psalm 28, Rachel! A good reminder I found in Ephesians is that we are to be walking in the light and putting off our old man with His deeds and bearing fruits to righteousness! “That you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.”
    Happy walking everyone!!

I would also love to walk with Dietrich Bonhoeffer….I’ve been reading a LOT about him in the past year and he was an incredible story and testimony!🙂😁 Or Jacob Deshazer….his story and testimony are incredible!!😀you should look him up if you’ve never heard of him. I read a book about him last year sometime and it’s an incredible story!!😃🙂 There’s SO many amazing people that I would love to walk with but if I had to narrow it down to just one I think I would have to choose Nate Saint.😁🙂😀

Keep up the amazing work everyone!!!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!🙂👍🏃🤠😉😃😁😆 Keep pressing on!!👍 Love all the pictures!!😍 Happy walking🏃

Susannah Wesley comes to mind at the moment. Her example of faithfulness at home and serving the Lord by serving her family is an encouraging one. And to see the fruits of that faithfulness in her children!
I’m following along in the reading plan! Question on that, did I miss Colossians somewhere or are we skipping over to 1 Thess?

A verse a made note of this last week was Psalms 73:28 “But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all thy works.”
Spending time in God’s creation and talking with Him in that quietness is such a peaceful way to draw near to Him!
