Spring100 Devotional
Do Not Grow Weary
Mr Lee Crawford || Week 11
βConsider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted. In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons? My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by him. For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.β Hebrews 12: 3-4
There is a struggle against sin. There is discipline from the Lord. There is a reproving by the Lord. We can grow weary but God tells us that our struggle is when we lose sight of what He shows us in Scripture. Instead, we let what we see, hear or experience direct our steps and not Godβs Word.
There is, as we see in Scripture, a great preparation that God has done in order for us to see the glory of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The Lord tells us that Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
βSit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet?β Psalm 110:5-7
God has prepared all creation, all angels and all his people to proclaim the glory of Jesus Christ. God is on His throne, CHRIST is seated at the right hand of God but we say it doesnβt seem that way. We many times trust what we see or feel rather than God. He still says βBe encouragedβ! Because we donβt see in this world that He is on His Throne, or feel that He is on His Throne, or see people acting like Christ is seated on the throne, we often look for answers in other places. Whether itβs for salvation or immediate help, however, THE REALITY is the Lord is there, in control, seated on His throne, ready to answer and help.
That is why in Hebrews 2:1 He implores us, βTherefore, we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it.β Yes, pay close attention to what we have HEARD not what we see in this world. Hebrews 2:3 says, βFor since the message declared by angels proved to be reliable, and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution.β We are assured that transgression does bring about death so we need to focus on and not neglect the reason He spent all creation lifting up His Son Jesus Christ. Please do not miss it.
In Hebrews 2:3 He says, βHow shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation?β The answer is no one escapes except by one way and that way is Christ Jesus, warning us not to neglect so great a salvation–a salvation prepared before time to redeem us. A great price has been paid by Christ, a great love has been given by the Author of love. What great love from Him to implore us to think on this.
Many times in life we donβt see love, so many times we only see and experience hate. The reality is that the God of Love prepared the greatest plan of redemption. A plan that we can see through Scripture which was written and lived out throughout Godβs providential history. We see a God so great who is not bound by time; a God who gave us His inerrant and infallible Word. We see that the Bible has been proven over the course of History to be the Word, which is Christ himself. He tells us this in John 1:1 and in John 1:14,15 that the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. He tells us all in Hebrews 2:4, βIt was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard, while God also bore witness by signs and wonders and various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.β God has revealed Himself to us. We are to focus on Him which is the purpose of Spring 100.
Spring 100 is a great exercise in I Timothy 4:8 βFor while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and for the life to come.β Spring 100 helps to remind us that Godly discipline moves us ahead spiritually much the same way as physical discipline does when we continue in it being a βdoerβ in our walk or run.
As we may be growing weary in the discipline of βrunningβ, let this day be used to encourage us to push on while not growing weary in doing the things of the Lord. Let us face neglectfulness in our lives whether physically or spiritually, not turning away, ignoring it or hiding it. Let us instead confess this neglectfulness to God and bring it and our weariness to Him. The Lord takes the failed and missed opportunities and replaces them with hope. A hope placed in Him not in ourselves or others.
Hope in the God who prepared a great salvation.
Hope in the God who shows great love and forgiveness.
Hope in the God who finished (completed) salvation.
Hope in the Savior Christ Jesus.
Let us finish the race well.
Do not grow weary.
Praise be to God.

Such an encouraging devotional. Praise the Lord for the admonition to walk by faith and not sight. How true it is that we βlet what we see, hear or experience direct our steps and not Godβs Wordβ. I know I am prone to this. May the Lord strengthen His people to walk more certainly and steadfastly in His Word.
Definitely planning on continuing to run and/or walk after Spring 100 as the Lord allows!π

The pictures have been so fun this Spring100! And I’ve appreciated the devotions each week, including this week’s message by Mr. Lee Crawford: God is on the throne and Christ sits at the Father’s right hand of power! Let us run the race that is set before us with patience.
I hope to keep walking after the end of spring, but it will be more casual.
It was such a joy to be part of the walk this year! The year off made it doubly sweet. π Thanks, Rachel!
Rachel @Spring100
I am so so so glad you joined this year!! ππ»ππ―

I am not setting any goals for after Spring100, but I will continue to walk/run some.
I appreciated the devotional this week and the parallel that was drawn between growth in our physical activities and spiritual.

Way to go!! ππΌππΌββοΈ

I am glad for how the 100-mile goal pushed me, and thankful that I was able to finish early even after going through malaria, but I think I will wait till next year to do the challenge again with friendsβ¦ it is time to focus more on daily tasks. My wife said her goal (after Spring 100 finishes) is just to stay fit for the last 3 months of this pregnancy (our fourth child)! π
Rachel @Spring100
Oh wow!! Praise the Lord for enabling you to finish even with malaria!!!ππΌ

Hi! I sent a message but haven’t heard back so I thought I’d try here. I just completed my 100 miles and I’m looking into ordering my shirt!
Do you have a size chart (for the women’s shirts) that shows the garment sizes in inches?
Or which style of Bella & Canvas shirt are you using? I found the size chart but there are several different styles and I don’t know which one you chose for Spring100.
Thanks!
Rachel @Spring100
