Spring100 Devotional
Truly Repent β That Times of Refreshing May Come
Mr Trent Moody || Week 3 Spring100 Devotional
In Acts 3 we find an amazing scene as Peter and John are entering the temple gate on their way to pray. At the gate was a lame man who had never walked in his entire life. He had to be carried to that spot in order to beg for alms.
Little did he know that the next men to come along would give him something far greater than alms. Peter and John looked at this man and said, β. . . In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walkβ (Acts 3:6). They then took him by the hand, and he rose up and began walking, leaping, and praising God.
All the people around who saw this were filled with wonder and amazement. Yet Peter took this opportunity to turn the crowd’s attention to something far greater than the miracle.
The miracleβas great as it wasβwas for the purpose of pointing to something more needful than physical healing.
Being healed from lameness is amazing, but the βno-longer-lame manβ would one day die. What he and the crowd truly needed was something far greater than physical healing. They needed to be saved from their sins. Their greatest malady was not physical, but spiritual. They were all dead in their sins and trespasses.
Peter, seeing the crowd gathering, seized the moment to preach the gospel, telling the crowd, βRepent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lordβ (Acts 3:19).
Two words here are really helpful for us to understand what true repentance is. The first word βrepentβ means to change one’s mind or purpose. The second significant word βbe convertedβ means to turn.
In its simplest form, these two words, together, give us the understanding that true repentance means a change of mind that results in a change of action or behavior.
Most people only partially repent by acknowledging that what they did or thought was wrong and sinful, but they stop short of true repentance and actually turning from their sin. Partial repentance is no repentance at all. In fact, partial repentance is actually presumptuous sin. It is knowing that what you are doing is wrong, yet continuing to do it anyway. Presumptuous sin is actually worse than sinning out of ignorance.
Godβs message to this crowd, and to each of us, is that we must have faith in Jesus Christ (Acts 3:16), and we must truly repent of our sins. The result of true faith and repentance is βthat your sins may be blotted outβ (Acts 3:19).
This is the greatest miracle everβthat a holy God, through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, would blot out our sins! The idea behind the word βblotted outβ is to obliterate. What a glorious truth! Jesus has totally obliterated and utterly destroyed the guilt of my sin! This is what brings βtimes of refreshingβ (Acts 3:19).
These times of refreshing may come to you as well, if you will truly repent of your sins, and trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross and the truth of the resurrection that declares God was fully satisfied with Jesusβ sacrifice.
As Peter declared to the crowd, so I declare unto you:
βRepent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lordβ (Acts 3:19).

“let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. This is the βstone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.β Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.β

I love how easy the mile logging is! I can’t tell you how many times my short term memory backfired the last two years I participated and I couldn’t for the life of me recall my miles.π€¦ββοΈ. SO glad this portal allows me to log immediately and save it.
Rachel @Spring100
YES!!!!! Love the easy mile logging and the ability to do it DAILY!!!!!ππ―
Abigail Stiff
The member portal has provided an easy way for me to add up my miles instead of writing it all down and trying to deal with a calculator.πHats off to whoever thought of it. This week has been tricky as I was sick, but I’m looking forward to catching up and enjoying warmer weather. Keep going Spring 100ers!
Rachel @Spring100
Yeah, Jalen did a great job dreaming up all the fabulous features. Thankful for his dedication and vision for building the Member portal!! ππΌπ―
Elizabeth Ford
I especially have enjoyed the place where I can log my miles and the website keeps track of my miles for me!! Thank yβall!!! Spring100 so far has been really fun!!
Rachel @Spring100
I think the fact it calculates the miles you’ve enter is such a relief!! So gald you’re having fun, Elizabeth!! ππΌπππΌββοΈ
Hannah and Lauren
I love the friends feature where you can see how many miles each person has walked! The super easy mile log feature is amazing too! A suggestion for the future would be to have some kind of chat box where you can cheer on your friends and congratulate them. I’m not sure if that would work well or not, but I’ve thought that might be fun. π Thank you, Rachel, for everything you do! I always look forward to the Monday blog posts! π
Rachel @Spring100
Love the suggestion!! I will put it down for next year. π THANK YOU!! π―ππΌ
Amanda F
Is there a way to see how many days are left in the challenge?
Rachel @Spring100
This challenge is 93 days total! Started on March 19th and ends June 20th. βΊοΈβ₯οΈ
Jalen @Spring100
Hey Amanda, there’s a new “Info” box on the Dashboard under the chart that shows you the number of days left, and also (roughly) calculates how many miles you’d have to walk per day (based on how many you’ve already walked and how many days are left) to reach 100 total by the end of the challenge. Hope that’s helpful!
DeLane M.
Iβm trying my best to make your day, Rachel! π
As a (very) small-scale web and graphic designer, I love the ease of using the features on your fresh website! The ability to log miles and upload images, the super fun feature of connecting with friends through invites to the portal, etc., are great assets to the challenge.
Thank you so much for all youβre doing behind the scenes! Wow β my T-shirt will be well earnedβ¦.

Rachel @Spring100
You did indeed male my day, DeLane! π I do love comments. THANK YOU and you are most welcome!! It is my pleasure. I enjoy every moment of it! ππΌββοΈ

I love the entire Member Portal! I am hard-pressed to name my favorite feature, but since you asked, I guess it’s the ease of logging my miles. That has been wonderful!!! I love how neat and clean and precise everything is. The graph and numbers are so satisfying and help to whittle away at the miles! My thanks to Jalen!!
Rachel @Spring100
I love how clean everything is too!! Not at all hard to navigate. Jalen is A+!! He did a wonderful job!ππΌπ―
Reese Parfitt
This is our first year so we werenβt familiar with the layout in the past, but I really like the ability to log miles daily (even update more than once throughout the day if you walk more) and go back and fix any other day if needed. And the leaderboard with friends is a super motivator that adds a lot of fun to the challenge.
Rachel @Spring100
OH! I love the ability to fix days too!! It is helpful because some evenings I will sneak an extra mile in and I can go fix my already logged miles for that day. THANK YOU, Reese! Love the feedback!!ππΌββοΈπ―
John Silvey
The mile logging feature is definitely my favorite!
Rachel @Spring100
Isn’t it so easy?!!!!!! YES! Love it!ππ»

Great job, everyone!! I’m enjoying the challenge this year! Thank you to Rachel for organizing everything. Thank you to Mr. Moody and all the men who have shared from God’s Word. Thank you also to Jalen for designing the incredible portal. Wow! I love the way you can log miles so easily and also love the little “Info” box that shows up under the leaderboard, breaking down days/miles remaining. So much thought went into it all. I really appreciate it! Keep it up, friends, eyes on our Savior!
Rachel @Spring100
Isn’t the newly added Info box sooooo helpful?!π€© Jalen just added that this week and it has been PERFECT. ππΌ Aw, praise the Lord! So thankful for such a great team this year and the ability to host this challenge once again! God is good.ππΌ
Amanda
My favorite feature in the portal is probably the daily mile log. But keeping up with friends has been super fun as well! π
Rachel @Spring100
It is really hard to choose a favorite, Isn’t it?! π
Amanda
It is! π
douglashflournoy
I think the whole new system is definitely an upgrade! one thing I would like to see is the graph being able to go past 100 miles… I have not yet decided if I’m going to continue as I’ve reached 100, but if I did, I would like to see my progress on the graph. I know there are usually some people that go for more than 100, so it would be useful for them too. . . And I know its not necessary, as it still says how many miles you’ve gone, but these are just my thoughtsπ
