Spring100 MILE LOG
β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦.
β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦.
βThe night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.β
Romans 13:12-14
Congratulations on finishing week 3!! ππ»π― How did it go for you all??π I absolutely love the above portion of Romans 13 from our Weekly Spring100 Scripture Reading Plan! I was both encouraged and convicted when I noticed Strife and Envy were included and right up there with rioting, drunkenness, and lust. This reminder took me to James 3:16 where we are told, βFor where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.β. WOW! We may not be given over to drunkenness or rioting but how often do we find ourselves causing strife/arguments with siblings or perhaps even envying something someone else has/is? James 4:1 reminds us exactly where strife comes from, βFrom whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?β These sins we hold on to, no matter how βsmallβ or βinnocentβ they may seem, (whether they be envy or strife or lust or -fill in the blank-) are the weights and sins mentioned in Hebrews 12:1 that hold us back from running the race before us with endurance. So, what does Godβs Word tell us to do with these sins? Romans 13 tells us to cast them off! And Hebrews 12:1 says “Lay aside” or another translation says βTHROW OFFβ. As we enter Week 4 of the Spring100 Challenge, I encourage you all to take time during your Spring100 walks to pray that the Lord would show you any weight and sin in your life that may be holding you back from running the spiritual race you are on with endurance! Ask Him to give you the strength to THROW OFF whatever sin and weight may be holding you back. God will give you the grace to do just that! I am praying for each of you as we enter a new week of walking.ππΌββοΈπ― Letβs conquer Week 4 in the strength of the Lord!!

βWherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.β

For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. Romans 15:4
So thankful for the hope we have in Jesus Christ!

Sarah Silvey
Way to go everybody! I can’t believe that some of y’all have reached 100 miles ALREADY!!!!
The weather here in Arkansas has been great- sunny, but not too hot. It has been nice walking weather!!
As I have been reading through Romans I was really encouraged by all the gospel truths Paul presents in chapters 5-8! Our righteous standing before God through Jesus’ work on the cross, the freedom we have from sin and allowing us to become slaves of righteousness, no condemnation in Christ, etc… Also, Romans 16:19 was encouraging to me- “…but I want you to be wise in what is good, and simple concerning evil.” What a wonderful truth and something we should strive towards daily! It reminds me how Proverbs and the psalmist in Psalm 33 defines wisdom and the fear of the Lord- turning away from evil and following what is right.
Loved seeing everyone’s great pictures!!
Rachel @Spring100
I am so thankful for the encouragement you gleamed from Romans and that you were able to share that encouragement with us. THANK YOU for sharing!!! I love that reminder from Romans 16:19!! I was blessed by the same reminder in Romans 12:9 where it says “Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.” β₯οΈ
Lilly
The weather here has been mostly sunny and warm, which makes perfect walking weather!

Howdy everyone, and GREAT job on completing Week3!!! Woohoo!!π―ππ» We have been enjoying absolutely gorgeous days here!! Lots sunshine, and lovely temps…actually even some chilly temps!! I’m so thankful for a beautiful country road to walk on and enjoy God’s marvelous creation around us!πβ₯οΈ
I really, really enjoyed reading through Romans this time around with the Spring100 Reading Plan!! Sooo many powerful, thought-provoking passages!! The last little section of chapter 16 stood out to me as well…”Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began but now made manifest, and by the prophetic Scriptures made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for obedience to the faith-to God, alone wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever. Amen.” It’s so amazing to think about “the mystery” that God had so lovingly planned, and “kept secret” all throughout history until the perfect time, which He fulfilled through Jesus our Savior! If He can do that, we know He can work His perfect will in each of our lives!! As Psalm 139:16b says, “…And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them.” Praise be to our God!!!ππ»
THANK YOU so much for sharing that passage from Romans 13, and all of the encouraging accompanying thoughts, Rachel!!! That was a blessing to me today! It reminds me also of the armor of God in Ephesians 6 (and 1 Thessalonians 5:8) that we are to put on, for equipping us to STAND AGAINST all of the darts and wiles of the enemy!!
“But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.”(Romans 13:14) Keep pressing onward + upward everyone, towards Jesus, our Savior!!β₯οΈ
Rachel @Spring100
“He can do that, we know He can work His perfect will in each of our lives!!” AMEN!!!!!!!!π€β₯οΈ He is ABLE!! I absolutely loved your thoughts on Romans, Martha Joy! Thank you for sharing and encouraging us onward in the Spring100. ππ»
Maggie
Hello everyone! Our weather’s been a delicious spring mixture of nippy, breezy, warm and sunny! I love all the vibrant spring greens bursting out everywhere! We’ve been doing most of our walking in the evenings, and the golden light has been fantastic!
It’s always beneficial to visit Romans 12 and this time was no exception. Verse 16 especially had some great, timely conviction for me! It reminds me of Micah 6:8, and that we are to walk humbly with our God!
May each of your walks be blessed as you put your eyes on Jesus!
Rachel @Spring100
Loved seeing your comment come in, Maggie!! ππΌββοΈ Evening walks are the best… in my opinion!!πβ₯οΈ Romans 12:16 is a great reminder. THANK YOU for sharing!!
Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.-Romans 12:16

Karen Spangler
Howdy ya’all. Great to read everyone’s comments!
I managed 9.62 miles this week (ending one job & starting another, so had some rl distractions). Weather was below freezing last week for North Carolina. I plan on cranking up the workout this week and hopefully doubling my output. 21 of 100 finished, 79 to go! All the trees came into bud this week, so I may try for some Spring100 pictures this week. π
Rachel @Spring100
WAY TO GO, KAREN!!!!!!! Love how you are setting BIG goals and working toward them. You are well on your way to 100!!ππΌπ―
Joel Fore
This has been an exciting challenge for me. difficult getting started but now on a roll to finish!!! Thanks for all the hard work, Rachel, keeping this going. Y’all have done a great job!! Less than 40 miles to finish. As I walk I am reminded of God’s glorious creation that surround us every day. As the psalmist says “The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the work of his hands…” Psalm 19:1
Rachel @Spring100
Wow! Way to go, Joel!!! You are going above and beyond. Keep it up.ππΌββοΈ It’s a pleasure to have you part of the challenge this year!
Anna
Happy week 3!! It was a chilly week here, but today has been gorgeous (sunny + 60 degrees!) Loving some spring weather!! <3
Rachel @Spring100
So happy y’all got a sunny warmer day!! Hope there are many more of those to come for you.β€οΈ
Rachel M.
It’s been typical Ohio spring weather, and a lot on the warmer/sunnier side, which is good for those of us sick of the dark/cloudy and cold…ππΌββοΈππ we did have a cold snap this last week, with a high of like 38 and I don’t think it got that warm. π₯Άπ₯Άπ₯Ά But we are up to 75 today (YAYπ) and the last couple of days have been absolutely BEAUTIFUL!
Rachel @Spring100
WOW!!! 38 is cold for spring!!!!π So glad it warmed up for you!!ππΌπ
Caroline Flournoy
Well, The weather here in Iowa can’t make up it’s mind what kind of weather it wants to be…πππ Some of my walks this past week were super windy with sunshine. some were pleasantly warm with sunshine and wind. some were pretty cold with lots of wind and no sunshine. and I had one walk that was a calm, 60 degree weather with no wind that was very nice.πππππππ
A verse in Romans that encouraged me was….
Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!
For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has become His counselor? Or who has first given to Him And it shall be repaid to him?β
For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen. Romans 11:33-36
Happy walking for week 4 everyone!ππππππ€ππππππΊ
Rachel @Spring100
Romans 11:33-36 are some verses the Lord has been laying on my heart this past week, Caroline!! β₯οΈ “How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!” Amen. π€
Amy Cahill
Weather is beautiful here in TX! Spring in full force, flowers blooming, breezes blowing, brief rain showers, plenty of gentle sunshine for now.
As for Romans, I’m not quite on track with the rest of you but I’m glad for the encouragement to read the book. This morning I took Romans 10:1-3 to pray for my unbeliving brother-in-law who is trying so hard to have his own righteousness.
Rachel @Spring100
Amy, Romans 10:1-3 is so beautiful I have to share it:
“Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.”
I have just taken time to pray for the salvation of your brother-in-law. May the Lord open his eyes to His salvation! β₯οΈ
P.S. I agree…. Texas weather has been beautiful this past week!!π
