“For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light”
Ephesians 5:8

“See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”
Ephesians 5:15-16
How did week 2 go for you all?? π Registration for the 2021 Spring100 has officially closed and I am amazed at the number of participants we have this year. Love seeing all the international walkers that have joined! From the USA to South Africa to Estonia, Mexico, Switzerland, Turkey, France, Romania, and I could go on… PHEW!π May the Lord be glorified through this Challenge! That is my prayer. ππΌ As we enter week 3, I want to take this time to remind each of you to redeem each Spring100 walk!! It is very easy to let that mile pass without much thought, isnβt it?! To get into a monotonous routine, allowing miles to go by scrolling through your phone or thinking on completely random “nothingness”. We are told in 1 Timothy 4:8, βFor bodily exercise profiteth little: but GODLINESS is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.β Life that is now and that which is to comeβ¦. WOW! Here at the Spring100, we believe a mile is not just a mile but it’s time that can be greatly redeemed! A Spring100 mile can be used to meditate on scripture, pray, bring family members together for a common goal, encourage others, and so on. Families have mentioned these walks are a great time for family fellowship, catching up after a busy day, or brush up on their Scripture memorization together. How wonderful is that?! And even a mile spent soaking up Godβs creation and resetting our minds to mentally prepare for the tasks that lay ahead is a mile well-walked! So, a mile isnβt just a mileβ¦. The time spent enjoying physical exercise can be so much more. Put your Smart Phone awayπ€³π», look up, redeem the time, and make each Spring100 mile count both here on earth and for all eternity… Now, go conquer week 3 in the strength of the Lord! ππΌββοΈπ―
Week 2 QUESTIONS!!

Question 2: I’d love to hear who is joining along in the optional Spring100 Scripture Reading Plan! If if you are, what verses from the reading plan encouraged you this week! Let me know in the comment box belowππΌ

titusa922
Thanks so much for your work in putting these posts together! The Alexander family is very appreciative!
To answer your questions for myself…
1. At first, I either walked or ran without really doing anything but talking to myself (which I happen to really enjoy) or observing nature (which I also enjoy). However, I discovered that it’s very easy for me to read while I’m walking, so that’s what I’ve been doing! I’ve been reading through the Wingfeather Saga and Mere Christianity, and it’s been a blast!
2. I’m actually going through a 4-month long Bible reading challenge with some friends, so I have a lot on my plate! I’ll eventually catch up to where the Spring 100 plan is sometime in April.
Rachel @Spring100
Great job on that 4 month Bible reading plan!!!! That is a great goal. ππ» KEEP IT UP!!
Yvonne Johnson
Looking Great everyone! Keep up the Good work!

Rachel @Spring100
Thanks for the encouragement, Hope!!!ππΌπ
Sarah H
I have been walking around our yard perimeter while the kids play, so my walks are mostly filled with looking at “Watch this, Mom!” exploits. Or else refereeing the squabbles that break out! π
I have been reading in Romans, although I’m already in the last chapter. Such a good book!
Rachel @Spring100
They will be so blessed by your attentive care! β€οΈπ Great job on grabbing those miles when and wherever you can.ππΌπ
Amanda Silvey
I have been working on finishing up memorizing the book of Philippians during my Spring100 walks; I also like to use it as a prayer time, or to just enjoy Godβs beautiful creation! At least once a week my siblings and I (and sometimes some friends) will get together and do a walk together, which is really fun! π
I have been doing the Scripture Reading Plan and Romans 5:1-3 was encouraging to me this week: βTherefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope.β
p.s. Bullingtons and Fitzgeralds – itβs been great seeing your smiling faces on here! π
Amanda Silvey
Hmm…it looks like my comment showed up as a reply instead of a new comment?? π€π€·πΌββοΈ
Martha Joy
YES, it’s so good to see smiling Silvey faces on here as well! Hi Amanda!!ππΌββοΈ I hope you’re all doing well! Romans 5:1-4 has been a blessing to me as well…one thing that stands out to me is that point that we can GLORY in tribulations and rejoice in opportunities and times that God is growing and strengthening us, knowing that He’s refining and making us more like Him. Reminds me of 2 Corinthians 4:17: “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.” What a lovely, precious Father we serve!β€οΈ
K Anderson
All of my walks so far have been spent enjoying Godβs creation! The tiny new life and signs of spring are such wonderful reminders of His unfailing promises!
I am reading along with the Scripture plan! Romans 8 stands out with a reminder to be walking in the Spirit.
Rachel @Spring100
Romans 8 is a personal favorite for me too! Thankful for the promise we have in Romans 8:28 & 38-39.π
Joel and Mom Swaim
We enjoy the beauty we find in nature as we walk and hand out Bible literature, tracts, gospel Johns, and Bible verse book marks. So far we are just leaving them on the benches along our rails to trails since most passing us are biking rather than walking.
Bethany
That’s so wonderful that y’all are able to use Spring 100 as an opportunity to witness for Jesus!! One year during Spring 100 my sister was able to pass out tracts to a couple of neighbor boys. They have since moved, but you never know what good may come from planting the seeds of God’s Word!!
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. Isaiah 55:11
Rachel @Spring100
THANK YOU for spreading God’s Word during your Spring100 walks!!!!! So blessed to hear this. ππΌ Praising the Lord!! ππ»

Sarah D.
Hey all!
Thank you so much Rachel for doing this all!
A verse that I have really been thinking about since I read it was Romans 1:16 βFor I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christβ. I have obviously heard it before but I have never really thought deeply about it. Jesus said in Matthew 28:20 β teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded youβ and if we are ashamed of the gospel how will be able to do that?! We need to always be bold in Christ to preach His word! Even when it puts you out of place and disrespected among your friends who are not saved, you need to stand up for Christ. Press on toward your higher calling!
Sarah

On the days my mom isnβt working we walk together which has been a wonderful way for us to spend time together before my wedding and I move away.
Days when itβs just me I like to listen to music or pray while Iβm out.

This Spring100 is such a special time for you and your mom!! I am thankful you’ve had those walks together.β₯οΈ
Hannah Stiff
Hi everybody! Abigail, Elizabeth and I really enjoyed this 2nd week of Spring 100. Warmer weather is here, and it feels great to walk past our flowing river and hear bird calls in the forest. We also were serenaded by some coyotes yesterday evening, which had slightly less appeal, but still interesting just the same. (: . I enjoy talking to God when I walk by myself, and it draws me so close to Him as I do so in nature. We also really like listening to audio dramas like The Extraordinary Adventures of G. A. Henty, (which sometimes helps you to pick up the pace with its thrilling historical fiction stories!). I am loving going through the book of Romans, which is one of my favourite books of the Bible. I especially like the parts where Paul draws comparisons between the Law and grace. We were literally slain by the law (Romans 7:11), yet were made alive in Christ (Romans 8:10). Such powerful words! -Hannah
Rachel @Spring100
One of my favorite ways to redeem the time when walking is praying too, Hannah!β₯οΈ Love hearing how week 2 went for you all. ππΌ BEAUTIFUL favorites from Romans! I absolutely loved the reminder that we have been made free from sin and are now servants of righteousness found in chapter 6! ” But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.”ππ» Praise the Lord!
Hannah Stiff
Praise the Lord indeed Rachel! We owe all to Him, because He gave all for us.
Hannah
When I’m walking with family, I enjoy visiting. When I’m by myself, I work on Scripture memory, sing (if I’m not too out of breath), spend time with the Lord, and enjoy the bird songs and spring flowers. And when I’m walking the dog, I’m focused on keeping her out of trouble!π Great work everyone! Let’s keep it up!!
Rachel @Spring100
Family walks are such a blessing!!!! Keep up the great work, Hannah.ππΌββοΈβ₯οΈ
Rebekah
I usually listen to music or an audiobook or just take time to think or sing! Sometimes talk with my walking buddies! π
Rachel @Spring100
Great job!! Keep on going. πβ₯οΈ Happy Walking!!
Emma H.
Love all the great pictures! I especially love that vintage truck someone found on their walk! π
When I’m walking with my brothers and Dad, we normally discuss what we’ve been reading lately or just catch up with each other. When I’m walking by myself, I normally listen to music, sermons, or history lectures.
Yes, I am doing the reading challenge! This morning when I was reading chapter 10, verse 4 stood out to me: “For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes”. Isn’t it such a blessing that in Christ all our attempts at righteousness through the law are ended through His death and resurrection?
Rachel @Spring100
Amen and praise the Lord!! What a wonderful reminder, Emma! Was so encouraged by that truth tonight. β₯οΈππΌ
Agape
Hi from Estonia! So excited that several from my family also signed up and even a dear friend here! This has definitely helped me to get out in nature more and enjoy God’s Creation (and to walk farther than I would have – indoor person here)! To see the flocks of geese come back (have seen two flocks so far), the snow slowly disappear, the sunny, blue sky again after a long winter… so many wonders.
I also use my time to make phone calls, pray, praise, and meditate, and listen to Scripture readings. Thank you for all the encouragement! God bless you all!
Rachel @Spring100
God bless you, Agape! I am praying He continues to encourage your heart through this challenge.πππΌββοΈ
Anna
Happy week 2! I’ve been having a wonderful time taking a “pause” each day to walk/jog. It’s been a blessing. π
While I walk, I have been listening to college lectures (which are actually sermons since I am in Bible college.) When not listening to lectures, I’ve enjoyed either chatting with siblings or just enjoying God’s creation. I hope to incorporate more Scripture memory eventually. That is something I would love to do more!
Yes! I’ve been following the reading plan and enjoying studying. Romans is such an interesting & deep book. So much to dig into!!
Rachel @Spring100
Isn’t the daily “pause” such a huge refreshing blessing?! So glad you joined the reading plan this year.ππΌββοΈπ Keep up the beautiful work, Anna!
Grace Silvey
Hello everyone! When I walk, I usually listen to music/audiobooks, but I do love it whenever I get to walk with my family or friends! Thank you, Rachel, for incorporating the Scripture reading with this year!
Rachel @Spring100
You are most welcome!β₯οΈ So thankful for my brother thinking about and for friend/spring100er Sheri creating the reading plan. Happy Walking, Grace! ππ»π―
Lilly
Ah, lovely spring-y pictures! I usually listen to godly music while I’m walking or I’ll talk with my family. I’m not doing the Scripture reading plan as I’m doing a read-the-Bible-in-five-months plan.
Rachel @Spring100
Great job on the read-the-Bible-in-five-months plan!!!!!!ππΌ

Rachel @Spring100

Elizabeth Stiff
Today was quite funny as it was raining off and on ! I would start walking then have to start jogging as the spitting rain got steadier and turned to pouring rain π ! It reminded me of a verse I recently read in Psalm 36:5 ,”Your love Lord reaches to the heavens. Your faithfulness to the skies “. It was a walking +running day today but a fun one .Great to see all the pictures of others this week !
Rachel @Spring100
Way to go, Elizabeth!! Persevering even in on those rainy days. ππΌββοΈ

I’ve had a blast walking with my family and our Pyrenees pup (who’s huge and absolutely loves walks!) and dachshund! Never thought I’d walk as many miles as I have this past week, and I’m looking forward to striving for more! And yes, most of the time is me trying not to trip!π
Rachel @Spring100
Ryleigh!! SO excited you’re getting more miles than you expected. WAY TO GO!!!!!ππΌπ
Abigail
Hi Rachel! Thankyou so much for starting this walk/jog /run group. This is my first year and I have enjoyed it so far! A lady from our church has started a group to train your body to jog long distance and that’s what got me started running. Of course when I heard of this group I was so excited! Even in the snow I enjoy walking. It was great seeing familiar faces in the photos today. Welcome Jane Flournoy hope you are having as much fun as I am! Happy walking everyone!
Rachel @Spring100

Emma Flournoy
I love to soak up the solitude and think a lot on walks by myself, and sometimes sing hymns (when I’m not too out of breath, like someone else said;)), and just commune with God. Also recently, I’ve been reading a book called One Thousand Gifts, by Ann Voskamp, and it’s rather convicting. In the vein of what it talks about—living each moment fully by taking it in gratitude as a gift from God, whatever it is—I’ve been trying especially to focus on not just noticing all the little details around me and going on with life, but actively thanking God for the grace that is each one, and trying to dwell in it with gratitude. It’s amazing how much more there is to praise God for when I actively look—all the tiny things.
Aaand when I walk with others, having conversations is nice. π
Rachel @Spring100
Emma! How much I LOVED your encouraging thoughts. YES!! Praise the Lord, He daily loadeth us with benefits. I was reminded of Psalm 103:2, “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not ALL HIS BENEFITS”!!! Thank you for blessing me with your comment!!β₯οΈ
Emma Flournoy
YES! Praise God.
avereynicolle
My siblings and I enjoy simple chats and taking in the beauty of the evening!!
We have such fun conversations on our walk and have been looking forward to Spring100: 2021 and are so happy it’s here!! We always see so many interesting things and were recently thrilled to find that most of the things from last year have returned! Including the donkey’s, and so many of the neighborhood dogs we’d learned to look forward to seeing. π
Rachel @Spring100
I am so happy to have you back this year!! And thrilled y’all are enjoying the walks together. πβ€οΈ
Angela K
I’m so excited to be doing Spring100 with my family for the first time this year! In answer to the questions…
1. The past few weeks, I’ve been mostly either talking with my family or memorizing Scripture during my walks. I’ve been working on memorizing 2 Timothy and some of the Psalms this winter/spring, and I’ve recently discovered that it’s really fun to memorize while I’m walking! π
2. I haven’t been doing it since I’m in the middle of a Bible reading plan for our house church. But awesome job to everyone who is doing it, and to everyone who is doing the Spring100 challenge! Press on!! π
Rachel @Spring100
Angela! So glad to have you and your family. WELCOME!
You know, I memorize best when I am walking too. π GREAT JOB hiding God’s Word in your heart!!!!!! Keep it up!
Melody M
Love seeing everyone on here!
I have loved how Spring100 gives an opportunity to step away from technology and clear my mind, refocusing on the “one thing” that matters. And yes, Titus, I would have to second you on talking to yourself – it’s a gift! π This year it has been especially good to celebrate God’s beauty in the colors of creation and be reminded by the birds that our heavenly Father cares for them and for us. How kind He is!
Thank you for including the element of Scripture reading this year! Our pastor has been preaching through Romans for over a year now, and this (faster!) read has been a refreshing reminder of all the truths we learned. I especially smiled today thinking back on Romans 5 and how God’s love is poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit. We may not have Jesus walking *with* us and showing God’s love, but we have the Spirit *IN* us, teaching us the depths of Christ’s love, and Jesus told us that is even better!Β
Rachel @Spring100
AMEN, Melody!!!!!!!! ππΌβ€οΈππΌ

I am joining in on the Spring100 Reading Plan, and so enjoying it!! One portion of Romans that I have been blessed over and over by is 4:20-22, talking of Abraham: “He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. And therefore “it was accounted to him for righteousness.”” This example has been such a blessing to me. When we don’t know yet what God is going to do in our situation or why, we can simply rest + walk in faith, in the fact that He is faithful, and He is able to perform His will! Praise the Lord!
Keep it up, everyone!! GREAT job, grabbing those miles, and ultimately pressing towards the goal as you look to Jesus, our strength!!
Rachel @Spring100
YES! Amen. THANK YOU, Martha Joy for your encouragement. We walk by faith and not by sight!! Keep on pressing forward in the grace and strength of the Lord.πβ€οΈ

I sometimes will walk laps on the driveway with my parents who are also participating, but if alone I will listen to the Scripture reading plan chapter on audio, along with other sermons/podcasts/audiobooks. Sometimes when getting my miles via treadmill indoors, I will be watching game shows with my granny or catching up on correspondence on my phone.
O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are His judgments, and His ways past finding out! ~Romans 11:33

Fabulous ways to redeem the time, Hannah! ππΌ

I usually listen to music while I run, mostly to keep focused on other things besides my feet/knees hurting, running out of breath, or just generally dying. π€£π€£π€£ Sometimes running is super relaxing and my mind just wanders, and when I get done I feel super refreshed and ready to study or whatever I’m doing that day. Running is a HUGE stress reliever for me! Of course, running with sunshine is amazing too and makes me enjoy spring. My sisters and I started taking walks on Sunday afternoons last year and that’s always a fun time to talk with each other.
I am not doing the reading plan. I would love to but I already have a Bible plan going and with school I’m not able to add more. π
Keep up the good work everyone!ππ»πΊππΌββοΈπ

Walking is going great for me!! ππI actually walked more miles than I thought this week which was nice!ππππWe have a 5 mile loop around the area that our house in in and I walked that which may have been what got me more than I thought I got!ππππ
Usually when I just walk by myself I think a lot, sing, just enjoy the beautiful scenery, etc.ππand when I’m with my siblings I like to talk, play guessing games, and have races.πππ I also like to read sometimes when I’m walking, though I discovered last year that I definitely walk slower when I’m reading!πππππ
I’m following along with some of the reading plan but I have another reading plan I’m also following and I’m doing that as well.ππ
A couple verses that encouraged me this week from the reading plan are….
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his bloodβto be received by faith Romans 3:24-25
And we know that all things work together for good to those that Love God, To those who are called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28
Great pictures everyone!!!πSo many happy and smiling faces to see!!!ππππ Keep up the great work walking everyone!!π

I walk during my hour lunch at work, so I am trying to go as far as I can in 30 min and not trip over the clumps of grass. I read the chapter for the day in the evenings after I get home from work.
Rachel @Spring100
OOH!!!!! That 5 mile loops sounds SO perfect for Spring100 and getting extra miles in!!!!πππ»
LOVE the verses you shared, Caroline!! Romans 8:28 is such a huge comfort as we face hard or trying situations, isn’t it?! The Lord is so faithful!!
Rachel @Spring100
Great job, Linda! I know you have a busy schedule and am blessed to see you push forward and find time to squeeze in your miles.β₯οΈ

We may not have Jesus walking *with* us and showing God’s love, but we have the Spirit *IN* us, teaching us the depths of Christ’s love, and Jesus told us that is even better!
Rachel @Spring100
Ohhhh! I absolutely love Romans 8:31β-β¬39!!! BEAUTIFUL truth. π So happy you’re doing the reading plan, Anna!!!

Great job on week 2 everyone!!! LOVED seeing all the photos!!! Some things I enjoy doing on Spring 100 walks are: chatting with my mom and sister (and our neighbor too, if she’s walking with us), listening to music, admiring the GORGEOUS beauty of God’s creation while viewing the trees and flowers, as well as wildlife!!! I’m also really enjoying the Bible reading plan! It’s really helped me to be more consistent in reading the Bible! ππ»π one of my favorite passages from this week is: “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 8:31β-β¬39
Looking forward to walking the rest of this week!!! Thanks again, Rachel for hosting the Spring100! It’s such a blessing to me! π

My husband and I like to run a mile together in the mornings. Often chatting a little as we enjoy the dawn. On Sunday we often take a longer family walk together, chatting with whichever child isn’t running ahead, encouraging the little ones that start to lag.
Been reading in Romans some with my husband before running. Taking time to discuss thoughts from each chapter before running. Good times.
